Since attending her first class in 2004, DeAnna has dedicated herself to the art, beauty and magic of American Tribal Style (ATS)® Belly dance. Under the direction of Megha Gavin, director of Devyani Dance Company, DeAnna learned the precise, intricate details of each movement’s technique and was trained as a professional level dancer and instructor.
In 2007 she received General Skills and Teacher Training certifications. Her continued devotion to the finite details of ATS® led her to further studies in anatomy, kinesiology and yoga. In 2013 she became a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (200hr RYT) and in 2015 became a Sister Studio Continuing Education instructor and graduate of the first ATS® Advanced Teacher Training. With a passion for excellence, she regularly studies with the world’s leading bellydance and yoga instructors.
DeAnna continues to introduce new training methodologies while still maintaining the pure tradition of ATS®. Her workshops, classes and private lessons offer an innovative blend of kinesiology, conditioning and dance drills with a focus on detailed and solid technique teaching dancers how to gently push themselves to their edge and discover their body’s fullest potential.
DeAnna began practicing yoga consistently in 2005 as a way to increase her strength and improve flexibility. As a belly dancer, she turned to yoga as a way to improve technique. It wasn’t long before she realized the physical benefits were just one small part of a regular practice. Within just a few weeks she noticed a dramatic improvement in her anxiety and stress levels. As a financial controller in a fast-paced, demanding corporate environment, her yoga practice taught her a number of skills that no amount of leadership or management training could have such as better patience and feeling in complete control under immense pressure and deadlines. She knew there was so much more to yoga and was eager to learn all she could.
DeAnna completed her 200hr RYT training in 2013 with a focus in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow. She received her certification through Life Power Yoga and her enthusiasm and passion to learn even more led her to attended additional trainings in yin, restorative, anatomy and physiology as well as continuous self-study of all aspects yoga.
She attended teacher training as a way to dive deeper into her personal practice and learn how to use yoga to be a better version of herself. But soon after graduation she began teaching yoga to corporate professionals and her belly dance students. Eventually teaching regular classes and workshops.
