DeAnna discovered American Tribal Style® belly dance in 2004 and was so captivated she immediately devoted herself to classes, self-study and private lessons. Under the direction of Megha, she joined Devyani Dance Company’s professional troupe in the fall of the same year. In 2007 she received General Skills and Teacher Training certifications. DeAnna is a Tribal Pura International Sister Studio Continuing Education instructor and graduated from the first ATS® Advanced Teacher Training in 2015.
DeAnna’s had the pleasure of teaching and performing throughout the United States as well as India. She has appeared in FatChanceBellyDance® Tribal Basics Volume 7, Volume 9 and multiple performance DVDs. Her latest DVD project, Yoga and Indian Temple Poses for ATS® was released fall 2016 and is a wonderful collaboration with FCBD® and fellow yoga instructor, Anita Lalwani and her teacher, Megha.
Her continued devotion to the intricacies of ATS® led her on a path to yoga. She began connecting aspects of her yoga practice with many elements of ATS®. Dedicated to continuous improvement in both dance and teaching technique, DeAnna immersed herself into yoga training and in 2013 became a registered Yoga Alliance Teacher (200hr RYT).
DeAnna began practicing yoga consistently in 2005 as a way to increase her strength and improve flexibility. As a belly dancer, she turned to yoga as a way to improve technique. It wasn’t long before she realized the physical benefits were just one small part of a regular practice. Within just a few weeks she noticed a dramatic improvement in her anxiety and stress levels. As a financial controller in a fast-paced, demanding corporate environment, her yoga practice taught her a number of skills that no amount of leadership or management training could have such as better patience and feeling in complete control under immense pressure and deadlines. She knew there was so much more to yoga and was eager to learn all she could.
DeAnna completed her 200hr RYT training in 2013 with a focus in Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow. She received her certification through Life Power Yoga and her enthusiasm and passion to learn even more led her to attended additional trainings in yin, restorative, anatomy and physiology as well as continuous self-study of all aspects yoga.
She attended teacher training as a way to dive deeper into her personal practice and learn how to use yoga to be a better version of herself. But soon after graduation she began teaching yoga to corporate professionals and her belly dance students. Eventually teaching regular classes and workshops.
